ABOUT THAI PLACE

Waldo Thai is a restaurant home to Executive Chef, Pam Liberda. Pam Liberda was born in Lampang, Northern Thailand. She acquired her skills by watching and cooking homey dishes alongside her mother. With her husband Teddy’s help and support, Pam is ready to run the show, preparing her own authentic, homey, delicious Thai food.

Pam Liberda was born in Lampang, Northern Thailand. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at Mahidol University and migrated here in 1998. After falling in love with Teddy Liberda, the former owner of Thai Place Restaurant chain, she decided to give up her career and enter the culinary scene. She has helped her Teddy open eight restaurants.

Pam took time to become a housewife and spent time raising her two daughters. Without formal training, Pam acquired her skills by watching and cooking homey dishes alongside her mother. Her passion for food led her to work at Cerner as the International Station Chef, cooking for more than 500 patrons a day with her inspired international themed cuisine.Now, with her husband Teddy’s help and support, Pam is ready to run the show, preparing her own authentic, homey, delicious Thai food.

Bar Manager

Known for his passion for creativity and hospitality, Darrell Loo prides himself on precision and technique. A member of the Kansas City chapter of The United States Bartenders’ Guild and Midwest regional winner of the Woodford Reserve Manhattan Experience in 2017, Loo has played a role in bringing beautiful cocktails to the Kansas City beverage scene.His former positions as bar manager at Repeal 18th Bar and Bistro and head bartender at Julep, have allowed him to cultivate knowledge in spirits, cocktails, and providing guests with the most positive experiences. Loo finds satisfaction in repaying the generosity and kindness of his patrons in fun and creative ways: through attentive service and through spirits & cocktails.

James Chang

Born from a family of cooks and restaurant entrepreneurs, James has spent many years as a member of the both the kitchen and the front of house. Formally trained for 6 years by Pam Liberda, he will do everything he can to ensure your experience is magical. James prides himself in having a deep knowledge of the menu, as well as making everlasting memories with his patrons. Come into Waldo Thai as an patron and leave as family.
